November / December
Greetings! It’s green, it’s hot and then also very much local … Starting with the green, climate change is not only the world’s foremost topic of debate and opinion. It is set to become one of the biggest recipients of political, corporate and public funding in recent history. As from 2020, over $100 billion will be spent annually by governments around the world on green subsidies designed to encourage renewable energy markets in a bid to tackle climate change.
While all things green are tackled world wide, the hottest car of the year for 2010 was revealed – the VW Polo. This will certainly makes a few VW drivers smile.
On local front it’s a debate between President Zuma, Prof Pierre de Vos and then Malema with a few eye brow rising statements – as usual.
This is also a time of year when people frenetically wants to finish of the year’s work and go on that well deserved end of year break. Yes, the silly season is upon us and it’s time to finish off projects and reflect upon a year gone by.
It’s a ‘cold’ fact
Everybody is going on boat trips, river cruises or chocolate making sprees for year end functions. At Cold Fact, the management and personnel opt for a spitbraai. Families got together at the Noord-eind Club House and it was an informal gathering where Father Christmas also turned up to hand out some great books for the children.
Holiday away
This is what we love to do. Show off our beautiful country. When long standing clients ask you to whisk up a super holiday, all we think is Arniston, Knysna, Plettenbergbay, the Klein-Karoo, Robertson, Franschhoek and the Bo Kaap. For one month we showed off pretty places, lekker locations and superb stay overs. Including a 70th birthday in sunny South Africa, this round-the-Western-Cape-in-thirty-days was about the wonders our hospital country has to offer.
Lyme and Gypsum
Delaire Graff Estate was the destination. This spectacular setting created the perfect background for the SA Lyme & Gypsum yearend function. Imagine breathtaking views over the Helshoogte Pass mountains, excellent wines and a relaxed atmosphere and you know you’re in for something special.
Olive AGM
We know about logistics. When we’re talking SA Olive Industry Association’s annual general meeting, it’s about knowing your stuff. Sponsors had stalls showing off the latest technology, the golden olive oils were up for tasting and Tony Frost, well-known athlete and commentator, as well as a keen photographer and someone passionate about the natural heritage of our Planet and particularly South Africa.
Strategies in business and the importance of people in making the strategy work were his focus points while also talking of our natural heritage by emphasising the critical state of our Planet and the role that people and organisations can play in fixing it.
Agri Cape Week
The 2010 Cape Agri week will take place from April 15-17 and will include some interesting stuff where the focus will be on the farmers in the Boland area in the fruit, vegetable and wine industries. The centre of attention will fall on the producer, supplier and service provider in the agricultural sector with the main aim to form a platform of interaction between different interest groups.
In the planning are two women’s programmes, one in association with Home magazine. With the overall theme of Opportunities from Uncertainties, this agricultural week will most certainly be a week not to miss. Grab a pen and your diary immediately.
Exhibition seminars
Research has shown that people who visit exhibition are generally personally involved in buying products or acquiring services. This is also seen as an important source of sales information.
With this in mind, Mega Events decided to host a seminar whereby old and new exhibitors will benefit. A special seminar programme, specifically aimed to help individuals to create the perfect stall, as well as the marketing and manning of it, is in the offering. Joy Donovan or Exhibition & Event Association of Southern Africa will be the keynote speaker. Ann Dalton of Agri Expo will also take the popular Cheese Festival as a case study to teach and add value to this seminar.
We invite exhibitors from all sectors to come and join us at this seminar because we truly live by our motto: Any opportunity. Any time. Any place!
The seminar will take place on Wednesday February 17 next year at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West. Costs are R550 a person. Contact Elma Brand on (021) 863-0397 for more information.
We want to end of this year by saying thank you. To all our loyal clients a heartfelt thank you for your support throughout the years. Even during these difficult times we experience currently, Mega Events is thriving and we owe it all to you. May this Christmas bring love, piece and joy into every South African home.
